70% were low-income and first generation.

Objective #1: 70% of all UB participants, who at the time of entrance into the project had an expected high school graduation date during the school year, will have achieved at the proficient level during high school on state assessments in reading/language arts and math.
Outcome: Goal met. 87% of graduating seniors achieved proficient levels to pass state assessment standards.

Objective #2: 85% (80% for TSD programs) of 9th, 10th, and 11th grade project participants served each school year will continue to participate in the Upward Bound Project during the next school year.
Outcome: Goal met. 92% of the students served continued to participate in College Bound the following year.

Objective #3: 75% (70% for TSD programs) of all UB participants, who at the time of entrance into the project had an expected graduation date during the school year, will enroll in a program of postsecondary education by the fall term immediately following the expected graduation date from high school.
Outcome: Not met. 61% of graduating seniors enrolled in college in the fall term immediately following graduation.

Objective #4: 65% (60% for TSD programs) of all UB participants who enrolled in a program of postsecondary education during the fall term immediately following high school graduation will be enrolled for the fall term of the second academic year.
Outcome: Not met. 52% of 2008 graduates enrolled in college for a second term in the fall of 2009.

College Bound is funded 100% by the US Department of Education at $339,381 for our grant serving Franklin Pierce schools and $250,000 for our grants serving Tacoma schools.
